How to Cancel PlayStation Now

While far less prevalent in the gaming world than Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus, PS Now has managed to get over 2.2 million subscribers since its initial launch in 2014. Not everyone is a fan, though – if you’re here, chances are it’s because you’re wondering how to cancel your PlayStation Now subscription. Thankfully, Sony has made the process relatively simple, but there are still a few quirks to be aware of, and the process is different for each device. With that in mind, let’s get started.

What is PlayStation Now?

PlayStation Now (PS Now) is a cloud gaming subscription service devised by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It allows players to stream PlayStation games from across Sony’s entire catalog on their PS4 and PS5 consoles or PC devices. As long as you don’t cancel your PS Now subscription, it gives access to a library with well over 800 classic titles, spanning the entire PS2-PS5 era.

To use PS Now, you need a reasonably fast connection (Sony recommends at least 5 Mbps). If  streaming to non-PS devices, you’ll also have to get an XInput-compatible controller, such as a DualShock, DualSense, or an Xbox gamepad.

PS Now vs. PS Plus

A lot of people tend to confuse PS Now with PlayStation Plus, Sony’s other subscription service. While both allow you to play free games, they are slightly different:  PlayStation Now offers a vast back catalog of legendary PS games, while PS Plus has a much more limited selection but gives early access to the latest betas, demos, and games, as well as discounts on popular store titles.

FAQ

What happens if I cancel PS Now?

The same thing that happens if you cancel PlayStation Plus or any other online subscription, for that matter. PlayStation won’t deactivate your subscription right away, but you will lose access to it once the subscription period runs out. Even if you cancel recurring payments at the beginning of a month, you’ll still have full access to the service until whatever date the subscription would typically run out.

Is PS Now worth it?

In our opinion, yes. You can get access to a massive library of over 800 PS2, PS3, and PS4 games for as little as $5 a month on a PlayStation Now yearly subscription. You can even install PlayStation Now on PC to stream your favorite PS games directly onto your desktop computer.

How do I cancel my 7 day free trial on PlayStation Now?

To cancel your PS Now subscription, make sure to turn off automatic funding on your account by going to [Account Settings] > [Wallet] > [Wallet Settings]. You can cancel the sub at any point of your PS Now free trial and it will not auto-renew during the next billing date. Canceling any PlayStation subscription is a relatively simple process – check out our thorough guide above for more details. If you run into any trouble, don’t hesitate to contact PSN’s customer support chat.

Can I get a refund for PS Now?

Yes. If you want to cancel PlayStation Now, just check out our detailed guide above. Take note though: you are eligible for a PS Now refund within 14 days of purchasing the service from the PlayStation Store, but the refund amount will depend on how long you’ve used the service. You can submit a refund request or read PlayStation’s cancellation policy for more details about the refund process.

How do I permanently delete my PSN account?

Permanently deleting your PlayStation Now account is a little more complicated than simply deactivating it. You’ll need to contact PlayStation support and provide details such as your name and email address associated with the account, as well as your PSN ID. Just remember, permanently deleting your account forfeits access to all content and subscriptions purchased to that account, as well as funds in your PSN wallet.
