I could name off all of the reasons why but let me just recount my story so far.
So I got this version of the phone (through AT&T, but it's basically the same phone) as a replacement for my old LG G2 which had bitten the dust. At first, it worked just fine, but after the first month of use:
-- The screen will lock up for up to a full minute (seems to happen most often while using Youtube app), and will not respond to ANY command - then it responds to ALL of them and races forward to finish what it was doing originally. Causes tons of panic and very horrible viewing experience. Oh, and this happens at seemingly random, with ANY AND EVERY APP I happen to be using. -- Can't play games. At least not the ones I've tried on it. Either out of date or it eats up too much memory, I don't know. Not even 5 year old RPGs from the Play store will run on this PoS. -- It was blocking my ability to charge it at one point, but I managed to get around that. "Not a Samsung approved charging cable" my ass. Seriously, what the flying frig is this?! -- The usual unremovable apps. Now with demands to sign up for a "Samsung Account" before you can even use the stupid things! Haven't even bothered using any of them; either turned them off or just leave them in the App Place to rot until I can root the phone and jetison them into the void.
But WORST of all: the phone restarts at so much as a bump on a hard surface. Even with a decent hard case on it this still happens! Seems to occur when dropped on the corners, but I've had it happen from as short a drop as an inch. Its also completely random; once I had it happen just by setting the phone down (not SLAMMING it down, just SETTING it down!), and other times it's slippe dout of my hands and taken a tumble, and nothing happens! IT MAKES NO GAWD DAMN SENSE!!
If your carrier hands you this phone as a "replacement", demand another phone, or to see their manager. If you're thinking about buying it for yourself, don't waste the money; get one of the newer Nexus phones, or from another carrier of your choice. If you find one lying on the street, save the owner the hassle and break it for them!*
*NOTE: please don't actually do this, it's just a joke. What's not a joke is how bad a phone the J7 is. omg its worse than a cheapo 30$ Chineses phone that at least works 99% of the time, even if it's slow as molassas!
More on the phone later, but in case an amazon rep is reading this, heres why I gave my delivery a thumbs down: Im unsure why, but my package arrived and the top had a large cut into the exterior box? I dont believe it damadged my new phone, but I am unnerved by this. I will edit this review once I have checked out my new phone to include my assessment of its quality- I have owned a J7 at&t model, bought from the store, for about 2.5 years and I have no complaints as to the device as I know it, and my review will be comparative to my existing experience. Phone came not charged, and with scratches around the charging port and at the top on the back, above the camera and flashlight. Otherwise, I am so far satisfied with the phone, I may amend this again once I give it more use, but I won't be doing so until my cases and protectors come in, phones aint cheap!
BUY IPHONES. I'VE HAD 4 SAMSUNG PHONES ALL TERRIBLY DIFFICULT TO USE, BREAKING AFTER UPDATING, NOT WORKING PROPERLY. MY TABLET STARTED OVERHEATING AFTER 10 MINUTES OF USE WHILE IT WAS TILL NEW. I WAS IN EUROPE AND COULDN'D USE MY WARRANTY BECAUSE I GOT BACK TOO LATE. NEVER EVER SAMSUNG AGAIN!!!!!!!
